Theatre performance work "Now As Then" based on the interviews made by Zhou Zihan and Xiao Ke, for more than 25 Chinese independent contemporary theatre people. We use the sound record as the background sound for this performance, a 45-min dance film we shot in three empty theatre projected on the big screen and Xiao Ke performed in another room, a small screen on the stage show the live in that room connected by the internet. Zihan in the theatre, control the lighting, video and the sound.
The theatre stage was empty during most of the time, but not empty, performance happen in the same time but in another space, you can see the performance by the same people in the same space but not the same time. The other people talked about the theatre, and with the sound, changing lighting and the dance film, we try to make the space connected with more things, more space, it's about the relationship between people and the theatre.
那时候就像现在一样
作品源于小珂、子涵在2012年对中国大陆二十多位当代舞蹈剧场艺术家的采访，从中国90年代初现代舞启蒙的教育家到80后的新一代独立剧场创作者。面对这群孤独的艺术家们，每次采访都会将现场带到另一时空中，每一段故事就像是在现场演绎一个不在现场的梦境。故事里外，空间切换，时间在给他们烙印。这群孤独的人每每说起自己的遭遇，就像瞬间站在了那个只属于他的现场。当我们将所有采访录音放到一起时，支离的声音碎片穿越不同的时空飘荡在同一个现场，像是一群无头的苍蝇，在打乱的轨道里飞舞，又像是漂浮在无氧空间里的金属，伴随着自我陶醉的燃烧而灰飞烟灭。
“那时候就像现在一样”以剧场表演的方式，运用身体语言，采访录音回放，被采访者的图片，现场即兴音乐，幻想再现一个个他们的过去现场。是不是在场？是不是那个现场？是不是不在现场？
“孤独的人是可耻的。”可耻是值得的。我们不在现场——失禁小组。
